The Montgomeryshire Lockdown Walking Challenge
LOCKDOWN WALKING CHALLENGE
This challenge was open to all members and their families!
Go for a walk any time on May 20th, the day we should have had our AGM, and log the distance in miles that you've walked.
County Commissioner Anwen Thomas would like to thank Cath Wilkins (County Walking Adviser) and Jann Downes (County Outdoor & Holiday Adviser) for all their hard work in arranging this activity which has helped to keep Guiding alive in the County during lockdown and boosted morale of members and been excellent for physical and mental health wellbeing - well done all!
About the challenge:
We were aiming to get from Bron to HQ and back, which is 360 miles, so every mile counts! If you can't walk outdoors, walk on the spot (20 minutes counts as one mile). Everyone who participates gets a free print-at-home certificate, and every member of Girlguiding Montgomeryshire and Meirionnydd gets a free badge.
Our final numbers are in for our Lockdown Challenge and we’ve utterly smashed it!! An incredible result. Final totals are (and remember that our original goal was to walk to HQ and back, which is around 360 miles):
Number of members who took part: 329
Distance walked by members: 1038 miles
Distance walked by non-members: 1067 miles
Distance walked by furry friends: 165 miles
Isn’t that incredible? Congratulations to all. It’s got us to Our Chalet and back… AND loads more. Thank you all so much!!
