Role

Girlguiding Cymru Walking Adviser

My Bio

I joined Girlguiding as a Brownie and have been involved, with a few short breaks, ever since. I have been a Guide and Ranger leader and have occasionally helped with Brownies and Rainbows. I have had a number of roles in Girlguiding including County Outdoor Adviser and Region DofE Adviser and I am still involved with DofE in Cymru as a trainer and assessor.

I have been involved with the Girlguiding Walking Scheme for over 20 years and obtained my Mountain Leader Award on the first Girlguiding ML course. I am a Trainer and Assessor for the Walking Scheme and help with various walking courses as well as supporting leaders. I am also a moderator which involves overseeing the Scheme, writing and checking resources, as well as supporting courses across the UK. I represent Girlguiding on the board of Mountain Training Cymru and I am involved with overseeing their training schemes as well as promoting Girlguiding.

Before retiring I worked in outdoor education and did a lot of caving, climbing, gill scrambling, walking and team building with groups. I now enjoy walking in the mountains or on my local beach and coastline. I also like to swim in the sea, kayak along the local coast to watch the wildlife, do some yoga and my garden always keeps me busy. I am a Trefoil Guild member and I have just completed my Bronze Voyage award and have started on my Silver Award.
