Introducing the Girlguiding Cymru 2025 Challenge!

Get ready for an exciting adventure! This year, we're celebrating the incredible leadership of our Chief Team with a special challenge for Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, and Rangers.

The 2025 Challenge is all about exploring the passions of Bev, Sarah-Jane, and Alice, our amazing Girlguiding Cymru chief team.

These challenges have been designed to mark the end of the current chief commissioner team for Girlguiding Cymru.

Bev and Sarah-Jane began their role in 2020, joined by Alice soon after. Their term of office will end in October 2025 and they would like to share the good (and sometimes difficult) times they have had with you by challenging you to have a go at some of their interests.

There are 4 separate challenges, each designed to reflect the personalities of the team.

1. Bev – she will challenge you to the quiet, mindful activities

2. Sarah-Jane – she will challenge you to some more lively, active things to do

3. Alice – she will challenge you to explore and discover

4. Event – this will challenge your unit to ‘take over’ a place of interest. We will also have two events planned in North Wales and South Wales.

We have created a form for leaders who may have skills that they can share such as knitting. We will then store these on a list to link leaders who may need support. This can be found here.

The four badges will be available at the end of February in our shop.

FAQ

  • The challenge can be done over the space of a year. The idea is to do 6 challenges per chief.

Leaders can double up with some of the activities to fit them into the term. Eg knitting and sewing in one evening.

Leaders can adapt where necessary to suit their unit. The idea is for girls to have a taster of activities.

  • We have created a form for leaders who may have skills that they can share such as knitting. We will share a list once we have some volunteers.

If you require support, please contact Lisa@Girlguidingcymru.org.uk

Please also think about contacting your local Trefoil Guild as there may be some very skilled ladies willing to share their knowledge.

Skill sharing

Need support with skills?

We understand that not all units may have the skills within their leadership team to deliver every aspect of the 2025 Challenge. For example, if knitting isn't a strength, don't worry!

  • Explore local resources: Consider asking parents/carers/grandparents if they can share their skills.

  • Connect with your Trefoil Guild: They might have members with the expertise you need.

  • Reach out to local groups: Invite local crafters, sports clubs, or historians to share their passions with your unit.

Need a helping hand? We're building a database of leaders with skills like knitting, sewing, Welsh language, and more. If you need support from any of the members on the database below, please email us here.
The list is ever evolving and will be updated as new skills providers volunteer.

Do you have a skill you'd love to share?

The 2025 Challenge offers a fantastic opportunity to pass on your knowledge and inspire others.

If you're proficient in any of the following areas:

  • Crafting: Knitting, Crochet, Embroidery, Sewing, Cross Stitch

  • Outdoors: Tourism, Sports, Parkrun, Backwoods Cooking

  • Community: Animal Charities, Foodbank Volunteering

  • Culture: Speaking Welsh, Castle History, Politics/Senedd Knowledge, Storytelling

...we'd love to add you to our skills database!

Let us know if you're willing to share your expertise in person or via Zoom.

Sign up today and help make the 2025 Challenge a memorable experience for all!"

Our 2025 events

We're also inviting you to take part in one of two incredible events, one in North Wales and one in South Wales. These events will give you the chance to experience something truly special, and create unforgettable memories with your unit.

Save the date for our exciting 2025 events in North and South Wales! Get ready for an unforgettable weekend of fun and adventure on July 5th and 6th, 2025.

Your unit has the option to plan their own or join a local 2025 event also. The 2025 event badge will be available to purchase for those units.

These events can be booked on our 2025 page. This page will go live in the coming months.

Celebrating our chief team

As our Girlguiding Cymru Chief team comes to the end of their time in their roles, we want to celebrate them. We're looking for your memories of meeting any of the team, messages of thanks, photos of meeting them, and memories of the best activities your unit has taken part in from 2020 to 2025.

They've been part of making it all happen, so let's celebrate that!
