Dyfodol y Ddraig

Our Youth : Our Future

What is Dyfodol y Ddraig?

Dyfodol y Ddraig is Girlguiding Cymru’s bi-lingual Youth Forum and is made up of 31 representatives from all over Wales, excluding, Chair and Vice Chair. We are all members of Girlguiding aged between 16-25 who want to be involved in making sure the members of Girlguiding Cymru have a voice.

Each county has between 2-3 representatives, who serve a minimum term of 2 years and a maximum term of 3 years. In addition to the committee members we invite other coordinators like Peer Educators, Sports Educators, Advocates, British Youth Council representatives and Youth Parliament for the day. We meet twice a year (Autumn and Spring) at Broneirion where we discuss issues that affect young women within and outside Guiding. We also brainstorm for activities and events, for example: social action events, helping with badges and of course there’s always time for fun!

All the information that we discuss is passed back to our counties, so we can get their opinions. This can either be using Junior Councils, County Exec meetings, private Facebook groups or events within county. The Chair of Dyfodol y Ddraig now sits on the Girlguiding Cymru Operational board. This means that the opinions and ideas of young members can be heard.  Each Dyfodol member is given the chance to express her own opinion and is encouraged to bring discussion topics from her county as we want to make sure that the views of the Welsh members are heard. We have been involved in many different events.

Keep an eye out for us at any Girlguiding Cymru event in our iconic green uniform. We are happy to answer any questions you have. #weargreenbeseen
