Blossoming Adventures: Girlguiding Cymru South Wales at the National Botanic Garden of Wales

On Saturday 5th July 2025, the beautiful surroundings of the National Botanic Garden of Wales in Carmarthenshire were alive with energy, excitement, and the unmistakable spirit of Girlguiding.
Girls from across South Wales, Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, and Rangers, came together for the highly anticipated South Wales 2025 Challenge Event, a day filled with nature, wellness, and new challenges.

Exploring the Great Outdoors

Set in one of Wales’ most iconic natural spaces, the event invited girls to discover the wonders of the natural world. From outdoor explorations to hands-on nature activities, girls immersed themselves in the environment around them, spotting plants and wildlife, learning about ecosystems, and connecting with nature in a way that was both fun and meaningful.

The event celebrated the importance of the outdoors in guiding life, encouraging curiosity, care for the environment, and a love of adventure.

Introducing the Flow & Grow Yoga Challenge

A special highlight of the day was the launch of the brand-new Flow & Grow Yoga Challenge Badge, developed in partnership with Katie Mogford of Flow & Grow Yoga, based right here in Wales.

Girls and leaders were among the first to see the exciting new Girlguiding Cymru Yoga Challenge Pack, designed to bring yoga to life for members of all ages. Whether they were trying yoga for the first time or already knew a few poses, everyone was encouraged to get involved, stretch, breathe, and embrace the benefits of movement and mindfulness.

This challenge is more than just yoga—it’s about confidence, balance, wellbeing, and fun. With activities tailored for every section, from Rainbows through to Rangers, it’s set to become a favourite across South Wales and beyond.

A Day to Remember

Throughout the day, there was laughter, learning, and plenty of time to meet new friends and reconnect with others. For many girls, it was a chance to step outside their usual unit meetings and experience something new on a much bigger scale—a celebration of community and discovery.

Girlguiding Cymru South Wales would like to thank the National Botanic Garden of Wales, Katie Mogford, and all the volunteers, leaders, and supporters who made the event such a success.

From nature trails to yoga mats, the 2025 Challenge Event proved that when girls come together in the great outdoors, anything is possible.
