Girlguiding Cymru ICE Project
Our ICE 2024/25 adventure begins with a residential weekend of community action and international experiences. We will explore what a community is and how we can make a difference, no matter how small.
This will be achieved by taking part in a community project, such as environmental work/research at each of our locations. The Guides will also learn about global issues, have lots of fun and meet new friends!
Our ICE experience comes together at the final project during the summer holidays 2025, where the Guides will apply and develop their new skills through a community action project/research on Brownsea Island.
They will also get to explore the area reflect on the project and look forward to their Girlguiding future.
Bookings are now closed! Thank you for all your entries.
Who can apply?
ICE = International Community Experience.
There is an exciting opportunity for an International Experience for Guides.
ICE is a three-stage opportunity for Guides aged 11-13.
To meet the criteria of the ICE, the Guides will need to be aged 11 by 1 September 2024 and 13 or under by 1 August 2025.
The purpose of an ICE weekend/trip is to give girls a taste of community action, increase their global awareness and prepare them for international experiences.
There will be limited spaces for Guides on the project which starts with the first stage - a residential in Wales on the 18-20 October 2024 and ending with a visit to Brownsea Island in August 2025 (the event itself will commence on the 10 August to 17 August 2025). The date for the second stage residential will be confirmed at a later date. If oversubscribed the Guides will be selected through a ballot process.
The cost will be £90 for the first weekend. Additional costs apply for the follow up stages that will be advised during the first weekend but we expect the total cost for the 3 stages to be under £650.00. Participants will be able to apply for some grant assistance funding towards Stage 3 of ICE (The ICE Camp).
In addition to the age criteria in order to take part –
You need to advise your Unit Leader that you have applied to take part in this event.
You must be a member of Girlguiding to attend this opportunity and remain so until the end of August 2025
