Meet Eve – Our Girlguiding Cymru Representative in the Welsh Youth Parliament
Hello, I’m Eve (she/her) and I am proud to represent Girlguiding Cymru in the Welsh Youth Parliament. I have always wanted to make Wales a better place for young people, and this is my chance!
I am a member of my school’s student council and debate club, and also captain of the girl’s hockey team. I demonstrate my care of nature through eco committees, and climate justice strikes. I support local charities by running stalls and making food parcels.
My target issues affecting young people in Wales are education, mental health and the environment. Wales has worse post-16 education outcomes than the rest of the UK.
Almost 1 in 4 high school learners report mental health symptoms. In 2021, Wales released 36.3 tonnes of CO 2 into the atmosphere. We can do better! Girlguiding has helped me know myself. It has provided friendships and has always been a rock I can lean on, teaching me and making me a better person. I was proud to march in Brecon Pride with a ‘Guide with Pride’ banner and a smile!
