North Wales Leaders and young leaders sharpen their Skills!

On February 16th, the Brymbo Enterprise Centre near Wrexham buzzed with energy as Girlguiding Cymru leaders and young leaders from across North Wales gathered for a day of exciting training and development.

The workshop offered a diverse range of sessions, designed to equip our volunteers with new skills and knowledge. Participants dove into the dynamic world of Fencing Training, learning the basics of this exciting sport. Others discovered their inner athlete with Table Tennis Activators Training, preparing to bring fun and engaging table tennis activities to their units. For those seeking a moment of calm and mindfulness, the Yoga Flow session provided a welcome opportunity to relax and recharge.

Beyond physical activities, the workshop also focused on practical skills. Leaders explored a wealth of Indoor & Outdoor Activities, gaining fresh ideas to inspire their girls. There was also a valuable Learning Platform, Accounts & Gift Aid Q&A session, providing essential support and guidance on these important topics.

Mayor Beryl Blackmore

We were incredibly honoured to welcome Wrexham Mayor Beryl Blackmore to our leaders and young leaders training day in Brymbo. A long-standing Guide leader and current Trefoil Guild member, Mayor Blackmore attended in her official capacity as Mayor, showcasing her unwavering commitment to both Girlguiding and the local community. It was a privilege to share the day's diverse training sessions with her, highlighting the dedication and skills development within our volunteer network. Before becoming Mayor, Mayoress Blackmore's contributions to Wrexham were immense, including the founding of the first Guides group in Marford and the establishment of the after-school club at the Rofft School.

Adding to the excitement, attendees were treated to a sneak peek of our upcoming Fencing Challenge Pack, which will soon be released! This new resource promises to bring the thrill of fencing to even more girls across Cymru.

The day was a resounding success, filled with learning, laughter, and the shared passion for learning new guiding skills. A huge thank you to all the trainers and participants who made this workshop such a memorable and valuable experience! We're confident that the skills and knowledge gained will benefit girls throughout North Wales.
