Girlguiding Cymru launches new challenge in partnership with ICE
The Girlguiding Cymru Civil Engineering Pack, produced in partnership with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), is a fun and engaging way for Guides and Rangers to learn about the exciting world of civil engineering.
The Girlguiding Cymru Civil Engineering Pack is a great way for girls to develop their problem-solving skills, creativity, and teamwork skills. It is also a great way to inspire girls to consider a career in civil engineering.
This partnership is a powerful example of how we can work together to inspire and empower the next generation of engineers. Through our combined efforts, we are helping girls to develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed in STEM and make a difference in the world.
We’re proud to be able to offer a safe, inclusive space where girls can be themselves and have fun - all whilst developing essential skills for their future.
The Institute for Civil Engineers have developed a fantastic resource for Guides and Rangers aged 10-18, which includes activities such as bridge building, and solving water distribution following a natural disaster.

About the pack
Each activity is introduced by a real Civil Engineer, this can be read out to the participants before the activity. In addition to gaining knowledge about the career, participants will have the chance to explore their local area and identify instances of civil engineering. It may be possible to arrange for an ICE STEM Ambassador to come to the meeting place to speak to the participants. They could possibly also run one or more of the activities in this resource.
