Girlguiding Cardiff and East Glamorgan is part of Girlguiding Cymru.
The county covers the areas of Cardiff, Barry, Penarth, Rhoose Dinas Powys, Caerphilly, Gelligaer. This county has 6 Divisions and 16 Districts.

We offer girls and young women in the County a space where they can be themselves, have fun, build brilliant friendships, gain valuable life skills and make a positive difference to their lives and their communities. We build girls’ confidence and raise their aspirations. While giving them the chance to discover their full potential.

History

Guiding began in Cardiff and East Glamorgan in 1909. Records show that a unit of Girl Scouts formed in Cardiff in 1909. The first Girlguiding units opened in 1910 when guiding began.
The County Standard consists of the following heraldic elements.
The Trefoil of World Guiding
The Red Dragon of Wales
"Be Prepared' - the motto of Girlguiding UK
The Sea Horses - supporters of the Cardiff Coat-of-Arms
The Tudor Roses - from the Arms of the original County of Glamorgan.

In 1914 Guiding began in Barry but due to WW1 it did not gain traction.
In 1920 Mrs H Lomas opened 1st Barry Guides. The original 10 guides then went on to open ten guide units, many of which are still open to this day.
