History

The first mention of Guiding in Ceredigion was in 1915. There were several units in Aberystwyth when it was reported that the 5th YWCA Guides enrolled ten new recruits. It was reported that Mrs. T. F. Roberts, President of the 'Aberystwyth branch of the Association, then presented the Union Jack to the Y.W. Girl Guide Corps and acknowledged obligations to their friends in khaki who had assisted in organising the corps. She trusted that the flag which stood for unity and liberty would be kept aloft unsullied as a token not only of the unity of Great Britain, but also of Greater Britain. The organisation had been fortunate in securing the services of Miss Woodall as captain and she hoped the corps would flourish under her lead.

In 1917 The Aberystwyth Girl Guides, commanded by Miss Florrie Edwards attended a service held for a the fallen of WW1.
