At Girlguiding Cymru we want to build an equal world where all girls can be safe, happy and reach their potential.

A big part of that is making sure we include everyone so that every girl has a chance to do amazing things, whoever they are and wherever they’re from.

You, and our whole community of girls, volunteers, staff, parents and carers, have told us that you want us to be more inclusive and welcoming to all. This was important to everyone we spoke to when developing our 2020 strategy. So, we made it one of our shared goals - being an inclusive and impactful organisation.

We know there are lots of examples in our community of how we’re working hard to make Girlguiding welcoming and inclusive to all. We want to continue this journey and build on our commitment to being an inclusive and impactful organisation.

In 2020 we did a diversity and inclusion audit. We reached out to marginalised groups who haven’t been fully included or represented in the past to ask about their experiences and help inform our new strategic plan for diversity and inclusion.

Members and staff told us about the times we’d got inclusion right, and that they felt loyal to guiding. But you also shared experiences of when we've made mistakes, and how that made you feel. This wasn’t good enough, and we made an ongoing commitment to change. We need to do more to really include everyone and be as diverse as the world we live in.

We’re committed to real, long-term change. We have a bold, sustainable plan to help us achieve our collective ambition. And we're supporting everyone in guiding on this journey.
