Bavarian Visit 2025
A report by Girlguiding Cymru International adviser Carol
Our international mascot Delyth the Dragon has been having an incredibly busy and exciting summer! Last week, she had the wonderful opportunity to meet a group of Rangers from the Pfadfinderinnenschaft St. Georg (PSG) all the way from Bavaria, Germany, who were spending some time in Cardiff as part of their visit to Wales.
Rotterdam 2025
A report by Girlguiding Cymru International adviser Carol
Delyth the Dragon, our Girlguiding Cymru mascot, has safely returned from her latest adventure — an incredible international trip to Rotterdam, The Netherlands! She travelled with four fantastic leaders (Caroline, Vic, Nush and Elin) and 14 brilliant Rangers and Young Leaders, all of whom were selected through last year’s international selection process.
Castle to Château 2025
From Friday 11th to Monday 14th April 2025, leaders from every corner of Wales came together for the much-anticipated Castell to Château trip. Leaving behind the castles and mountains of home, they set off on an exciting Parisian adventure, filled with friendship, laughter, and the chance to explore new horizons. The journey took them to the heart of France, where the grandeur of a château became their base and the magic of Paris awaited just beyond its gates.
Rotterdam 2025
A report by Girlguiding Cymru International adviser Carol
International adviser Carol has told us that Delyth has been very busy this weekend getting to know the participants for the Girlguiding Cymru Rotterdam 2025 trip. The leaders, our lead Caroline, Nush, Victoria, and Elin, spent the weekend getting to know the team and the trip itself, which includes a stay in a Scout Centre in the summer of 2025.
They spent the weekend discussing travel to the Netherlands, what to pack, what they will do when they are there, and their group charter. They also had an indoor campfire, which Delyth enjoyed. The team and Delyth look forward to building on their planning with their second briefing weekend in March 2025.
Roverway 2024
A report by Girlguiding Cymru member Sara
In July 2024 we travelled to Norway as part of the Girlguiding UK Contingent, we were the only 2 participants to be selected to take part in Roverway. Roverway is a European Scout and Guide event which is unique due to its age range and its emphasis on youth-led adventure. Roverway was split into two parts: the first five days were a ‘pathway’ providing an opportunity for us to explore a local area within a small international group; the second part was a ‘jamboree’ with around 5000 young people from all over Europe camping together and learning about each other’s cultures.
Sangam 2024
Sangam report by Girlguiding Cymru member, Liz: After a year of researching, planning, and fundraising, six Rangers / Young Leaders and three Leaders from across Cymru had a fantastic trip to India during the summer holidays.
We spent a couple of days in Mumbai acclimatising and sight-seeing then went on to Sangam. The world centre was beautiful and we had such a special stay, including “India afternoon” where we could wear our newly purchased sari’s and Punjabi suits and try our hand at Indian dancing. On other days we were taken out for a tour of the local area, caught a rickshaw to go shopping in the local markets, and spent a couple of days visiting local schools to support the pupils.
