Ice Extravaganza Event

On Saturday 28 January, a record 650 members of Girlguiding Cymru visited Ice Arena Wales. They all had the opportunity to try Ice Skating. They were supported and inspired by The Cardiff Comets Women's Ice Hockey Team.
After the fun of Ice Skating, the members were ready to watch The Cardiff Devils Ice Hockey Team Vs Fife Flyers.
The team of volunteers from Girlguiding Cymru worked together to ensure a day of fun was had by all.
“What an atmosphere there was with over 650 of our members taking to the ice at our Ice Extravaganza Event, our largest number to date. The Cardiff Comets Ladies ice hockey team joined us on the ice it was fantastic to confidence grow throughout the afternoon with some of our nervous members. I think we safely say the girls enjoyed themselves as quite a few asked their Leaders if they could go again next week!
Thank you to Katrina and the amazing staff at Cardiff Ice arena who always make us feel so welcome. The members were thrilled to enter through the VIP entrance and were excited to see Cardiff Devils win.
A lot of the members are hoping to return to the arena this year to support the Cardiff Comets. It always fantastic for us to have role models for the girls to look up and realise there are so many different opportunities for them.
I look forward to taking to the ice again next year and spending time with members from Girlguiding Cymru. ”
Here is what some of the girls and Leaders thought about the day
Sarah-Rose, Brownie age 8 - I loved the ice skating and the ice hockey! I cannot wait to come again next year.
Amelia, Guide age 12 - The Cardiff Comets were amazing at helping us on the ice. I did not know how to skate but they really gave me confidence!
Megan, Ranger age 14 - The match was absolutely amazing! The atmosphere was electric.
Edie, Brownie age 9 - It was amazing to try something new with my friends.
Ayeesha, Guide age 11 - The Cardiff Comets were so nice! They helped me and my friends to improve our skating skills!
Millie, Young Leader age 16 - It is amazing to see my brownies having so much fun and to have fun myself. I cannot wait to watch the game later.
