Friends of Broneirion
Putting fun & friendship into fundraising!
Established in 1968, our purpose is threefold:
Previously supporting Girlguiding Cymru in relation to Broneirion by making donations through fundraising.
Promote our membership throughout Girlguiding and the wider community.
Provide opportunities for Friends to meet.
Over the years, Friends have funded the refurbishment of the drawing room, dining room and library and helped buy much-needed items for the house and grounds.

Our 50th Birthday at Broneirion
We celebrated our 50th birthday with a ‘Golden Challenge Activity Day’ for 600 girls from all sections and their Leaders at Broneirion. The sun shone and laughter and fun filled the house and grounds – from Cae Gwenllian right up to the zip wire.
‘Queen Victoria’ graced us with her presence as she held audiences in the Drawing Room.
Drums beat out across the breeze from the swimming pool lawn.
A five-star bug hotel was under construction with Montgomery Wildlife.
S’mores were enjoyed as girls explored the high woods.
Lots of Golden Challenge badges were gained and what fabulous ‘golden’ memories to hold and cherish!
Christmas at Broneirion
The house was sparkling with trees and decorations for our 2019 ‘Magic of the Musicals’ Christmas Weekend. We were entertained by a variety of well-known songs by the Newtown Musical Theatre Company. We could have been auditioning to join as we all sang along! Carols and crafts, quizzes and keep-fit dance routines and an absolutely superb Christmas dinner on Saturday evening.
Local children who visited Santa’s Grotto were amazed at the scene set up for them to enjoy and having met the important person within, left with a special present. Many tried out the choice of crafts that were available. One parent told us it was their family’s best Christmas experience ‘south of Lapland’.
Fun and friendship during 2020-2021
It was a first for us when our Christmas 2020 celebration became a virtual experience and we joined with Broneirion Singing Circle for carols and Christmas thoughts. A chance to spend time with our Friends
We zoomed again to enjoy Dydd Gwyl Dewi together. We were led by Singing Circle in some well-known Welsh songs and our knowledge of Wales was tested by a wide ranging quiz. Craft ideas were shared alongside a powerpoint reminding us of past events.
