London calling! by Adele from Girlguiding Clwyd

Adele from Girlguiding Clwyd tells us all about an exciting trip to London for World Thinking Day 2023

2nd Johnstown Guides, Draenog Rangers and 1st Chirk Rangers are back home after 3 wonderful days celebrating World Thinking Day at Pax Lodge World Centre and exploring London. We are all very tired with sore feet after a fun packed few days.

We arrived Tuesday by coach. After arriving at Pax Lodge we made our way into London and visited the memorial for Robert and Olave Baden-Powell at Westminster Abbey.

From there we did some sightseeing by foot before our special visit to Downing Street.
At Downing Street a number of Rangers made their promise.

It was then back to Pax Lodge to freshen up and eat before heading out to see Wicked in the Apollo Victoria Theatre. We highly recommend this show if you are ever in London.

You can find out more about Wicked here

Thinking day morning we did the pax lodge pinning ceremony after breakfast.
It was such a special moment for all the members.

Then we headed out for the day. Due to issues with the underground an unplanned bus tour took the group to Buckingham Palace and they caught the end of the changing of the guard. In the afternoon we split up into 3 groups and choose what to do. Two choose the Natural History Museum and one further sightseeing and shopping.

The evening was a fun special evening at pax doing thinking day activities after a quick ice breaker game of musical chairs.

Thursday after packing up we went and explored the London Tower. We had lunch at Borough Market before splitting into two groups - one did the London eye and the other a river cruise.

I survived the London Eye despite a fear of heights thanks to the support of my guiding friends.

Then it was time to make our way home x
We had a wonderful time and we hope to do it again very soon!
