Role

Girlguiding Cymru Inclusion lead

My bio

I started my guiding journey as a Rainbow at the age of 5. I then returned as a teenager to the same Rainbow unit I had attended a decade earlier. I have now been a rainbow leader at this unit for eight years. I have also volunteered at a Rainbow and Brownie in Aberystwyth during my time there at university.

I studied Psychology and Education for my bachelor’s degree, and have just completed a master’s in Children’s Psychological Disorders. I myself am neurodivergent and have dedicated my learning to understanding neurodivergencies, mental health, and developmental conditions, as well as understanding adversities faced by children, especially based on gender and socio-economic status. I have spent the past seven years curating knowledge and experience to help the children who need it most. I continually challenge my knowledge and strive to research new topics whenever I feel my understanding is inadequate.

I want to utilise my knowledge and personal and professional experiences to help others in as many ways as possible. I am excited to take on this role, to become an approachable figure in the community, to facilitate open communication about inclusion for all guiding members in whatever capacity possible. Inclusion is something I am deeply passionate about, and I will always strive to understand each individual’s unique situation and provide advice on solutions that work best for them. I want to inspire more people to challenge their understanding of inclusion and to share information about the potential and variety of inclusion within Girlguiding.
