UDOIT! Dance ignites Pembrokeshire: A Street dance event for Girlguiding Cymru members!

On 7 March 2026, Haverfordwest High VC School was transformed into a vibrant dance studio as Girlguiding Cymru’s UDOIT! Dance , UDOIT! Street Dance Workshop took centre stage.

More than 170 enthusiastic Brownies, Guides, Rangers and Young Leaders, alongside their dedicated volunteers, came together for an energetic day packed with movement, music and creativity. From the moment the music started, the hall was buzzing with excitement as everyone prepared to unleash their inner dancer.

Led by the incredible team from UDOIT! Dance, the workshop was a whirlwind of dynamic routines and infectious rhythms. Participants rotated around three different workshops, each led by a professional instructor, learning the foundations of street dance, from isolations and grooves to toprocking and choreographed routines.

The sound of stomping feet, laughter and cheers filled the room as girls pushed themselves to try something new. The workshops weren’t just about learning dance moves; they were about building confidence, encouraging self-expression and working together as a team. The supportive environment created by the instructors meant everyone felt comfortable trying new styles, freestyling and celebrating their progress throughout the day.

The event was made even more special as it took place the day before International Women’s Day, and many of our members took part in a special video to celebrate girls and young women across Girlguiding Cymru.

Alongside the dance workshops, there were plenty of opportunities for leaders and young leaders to take part too. During the day, Katie Mogford from Flow & Grow Yoga delivered relaxing Flow & Grow yoga sessions for leaders and young leaders. These one-hour sessions gave volunteers the chance to pause, stretch and recharge during the busy day. Leaders also had the opportunity to learn more about the Girlguiding Cymru yoga resource pack, helping them bring mindfulness and movement back to their own units.

For leaders looking to make the most of the day, there was also the opportunity to complete their First Response training, delivered by Nia from the Girlguiding Cymru training team. This meant the event was not only fun and inspiring but also a valuable learning opportunity for volunteers.

In between activities, leaders enjoyed the chance to catch up with friends from across the county, and even sew a few badges onto their blankets! These moments of connection are an important part of the Girlguiding experience.

A badge and tuck shop, run by Girlguiding Pembrokeshire, was also a popular stop throughout the day. Funds raised will support their members on an exciting upcoming international trip to Switzerland.

The event was attended by Pembrokeshire’s new County Commissioner, Carys James, and Girlguiding Cymru’s Chief Commissioner, Kathy Gunner, who both enjoyed seeing the energy, enthusiasm and confidence on display throughout the day.

A huge thank you goes to the amazing team at UDOIT! Dance for delivering such an inspiring experience and helping our members discover new skills and confidence through dance.

We are also incredibly grateful to Sport Wales and The National Lottery for their generous funding, which made this unforgettable day possible. Their support in empowering girls and young women through physical activity, creativity and teamwork is invaluable.

The impact of the day will continue long after the music stopped — proving once again that when girls come together, amazing things happen.
