Role

Girlguiding Cymru Inspire Co-ordinator

My bio

I started my Guiding journey as a Rainbow aged 5 and have been involved in some capacity since. Girlguiding has played a huge part in my life, has allowed me to meet a variety of people and develop a variety of skills which have supported me through different parts of my life. It has encouraged me to attend events on my own knowing that there is an automatic group of friends and given me confidence to take on a variety of roles following my time as a youth member.

As a Senior Section member in Manchester County I was Express Youth Representative for the county and then Deputy Chair for the forum based in North West Region. Moving to London to study I continued that role as well as volunteering for a Brownie unit and the Great Ormond Street Hospital unit.

Moving to Wales I started running a Guide unit, and have since returned to being a Brownie leader.

As well as volunteering with the unit, I also volunteer as the Ceredigion county events and training coordinator, a role I will continue whilst also taking on this new challenge as Inspire Co-cordinator for Girlguiding Cymru.

I am excited to take on this new challenge and am passionate about encouraging the 18-30 year old adult volunteers to be part of this support network and community, be them long standing members or new to the organisation. And in turn support them develop in their leadership journey and find new challenges themselves. As a member who can not be in the unit full time due to my work commitments as a freelance touring Stage Manager, I am also passionate about inspiring leaders and involving new volunteers in finding roles that work for them and the time they can commit, utilising their individual skill set to in turn inspire our young member.
