Get your skates ready – the Girlguiding Cymru Ice Extravaganza events are back for 2026!

Girlguiding Cymru’s Ice Extravaganza has become a much-loved tradition, bringing together Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Rangers, and volunteers for unforgettable days of skating, laughter, and friendship.
Held at Deeside Leisure Centre our Ice Extravaganza events have seen thousands of girls take to the ice over the years, some for the first time, cheered on by their units and leaders.
Please note that while the Ice Extravaganza event is open to Girlguiding units that do not meet in Wales, the free leader spaces are funded by Sport Wales. Therefore, all leader places for units outside Wales would need to be paid for.
Come along for an Ice skating family disco session from 2pm – 4pm, followed by Ice Hockey Match between Deeside Dragons and Leeds Knights – Faceoff 5.15pm match finishes approx. 7.30pm with the opportunity to meet the players after the match. Please note the family disco session is open to members of the public.
The Ice Extravaganza is more than just a day out – it’s a celebration of confidence, teamwork, and the joy of trying something new together.

Leader offer: This event is supported by Sport Wales and we are offering 1 free adult skate & match ticket per unit.
Bring along 12 or more girls and receive a second adult ticket.

Yes, at least one adult should be on the ice with the girls at all times. If your unit does not have a leader who is able to go on the ice, you may wish to ask a parent helper to accompany the group. Alternatively, please let us know in advance – if your group is small, we may be able to pair you with another unit for support.

Yes there will be.
Each unit will also need their own first aider though. -
This event is for Girlguiding Cymru members only, You may bring parent helpers in line with ratios. Spaces are limited.
Parents and families are welcome to book match tickets directly with the venue. The ice skating event is for Girlguiding Cymru only.
