International Women’s Day is celebrated on the 8th of March – a day when we celebrate the achievements of women and girls in Wales and around the globe whilst also recognising there is more to do as we work towards gender equality.

The theme for 2023

Calling all Leaders and Parents

We would love to hear from our young members about the inspirational women who volunteer for Girlguiding Cymru.
We would love to share videos on International Women’s Day. We need short video clips of members from all sections in uniform telling us about their Leaders or other volunteers in their area.

Leaders can share videos with parental permission in place on GO. Parents of members under 14 can complete the form below and send it with the video.

Please submit videos before March 6th 2023

International Women’s Day 2023 Resources

Working with teachers and youth leaders, Women’s Equality Network Wales (WEN Wales) have developed a free toolkit for schools and youth groups on gender equality and women’s rights. With this toolkit, they invite you to join them in celebrating International Women’s Day on 8th March 2023!

Starting in 1911, International Women’s Day (IWD) takes place annually. It is a global day celebrating the achievements of women. As well as celebrating, the day also marks a call to action for accelerating progress towards gender equality.

Don’t forget to share that you are taking part in IWD 2023 on Twitter and Instagram, tagging @WENWales and using the hashtags #100WelshWomen and #IWD2023.
We would love to see your photos and hear about your experiences with the toolkit.

Finally, please do let us know how it goes by filling in this short survey International Women's Day 2023: Schools and Youth Groups feedback Survey (surveymonkey.co.uk).

Your feedback is vital in helping WEN Wales to fund future work towards our vision of a Wales free from gender discrimination.
