Be part of something big at the Royal Welsh Show 2026
This year, Cronfa Ddwr is hosting the Royal Welsh Show, and Girlguiding Cymru is proud to be part of the action. We’re looking for enthusiastic Guides, Rangers, and Leaders to join our volunteer service team and help bring this iconic event to life.
Why volunteer?
This is your chance to experience one of Wales’ biggest events from the inside. You’ll build confidence, make new friends, and gain valuable experience, perfect if you’re working towards your Queen’s Guide Award or DofE service section.
It’s rewarding, fast-paced, and a lot of fun, but it’s also hard work, so come ready to get stuck in!

Dates: Sunday 19 July (arrival) – Thursday 23 July 2026 (departure)
Location: Accommodation at Plas Pencelli, with daily duties on the showground
Who can apply?
Girls:
Guides (Year 7+) and Rangers
Can attend without their usual leaders
Priority given to those completing Queen’s Guide Award or DofE
Places are limited and allocated first come, first served
Leaders (18+):
Limited spaces available
First come, first served
What will you do?
You’ll be part of a rotating team supporting the show, including:
Running competition results from animal sections to the Awards Office
Helping manage a buggy store
Supporting shopping bag crèches
All duties are on a rota, with built-in breaks and rest time. Leaders will also help supervise younger members.

Cost
ÂŁ80 per person (subsidised)
This includes:
Accommodation
All meals and refreshments
Transport to and from the showground daily
Participants will need to arrange their own travel to/from accommodation
and bring some pocket money.

You’ll be representing Girlguiding Cymru, so looking smart and feeling comfortable is key while you’re on duty at the Royal Welsh Show.
You’ll be given two official Girlguiding Cymru RWS T-shirts (provided by your County) to wear during the week
Pair these with a long sleeved black top and plain navy/blue trousers, smart shorts, or tracksuit bottoms
A full kit list will be shared before the event so you know exactly what to pack
As you’ll be outdoors whatever the weather, don’t forget to bring a raincoat and a sun hat, be ready for sunshine or showers! You will also need a clear poncho for duty.
You’ll also be given a Royal Welsh Show neckerchief to wear while on duty (and you can choose to purchase it as a keepsake after).
