Girlguiding Cymru RIIG Project Officer (North Wales)
“I grew up in the North of England but moved to North Wales in 2016, I am currently based in Dolgellau. I work as the Development Officer for the Regional Innovation Inclusion and Growth [RIIG] Project, collaborating with teams in Girlguiding HQ, Ulster and Scotland. My role involves working with communities across North Wales, collaborating with local youth organisations to build relationships, amplify the voices of marginalised and under-represented groups and communities as well as pilot new creative ideas for Girlguiding Cymru. I studied English Literature at Bangor University and then went on to complete a Master’s in International Social Policy at the University of Nottingham. I am passionate about menstrual equality and tackling gender-based violence, having worked overseas in Kanungu, Uganda and Pune, India facilitating community integrated workshops and working to empower local women to gain leadership skills and boast their self-esteem. I have been a member of Girlguiding for most of my life, and I will always be grateful for all the things I have learnt and experienced during this time. I am currently a Guide & Ranger leader in Dolgellau, and I am a Queen’s Guide. I am keen to make sure that guiding is a space for all by enabling everyone the same incredible opportunities which is why I love my role so much! When I am not looking after my houseplants or reading a good book, I love travelling, going to gigs and wild swimming.”
